Finding A Living Arrangement That Is Stress-Free

The same as moving, looking for a better apartment or a place to rent is never an easy task. This is may be a bit of fun but as you go along, you will surely realize that this can even be a very stressful task especially if you are into a search for a certain place that would meet all your requirements and all your needs as well. And talking about requirements and needs, these are those that make things even more complicated.

Be reminded that the rental market in most cities nowadays are cyclical yet it is always the most desirable units that are the ones snapped up real quick. So if you are set to do the task of looking for that place that would suit your desires, do your homework better and hit the pavement after.

In checking a better place to rent, it would be best to first consider the location. So how is the location? Does it has easy access to what you really need for your type of community – transport, market, shops, safety? Then standard things will follow like the number of rooms, and other features that would be desirable to you.

It is indeed important to meet all of our needs in finding the best living arrangement for ourselves and our family, the same as what Boston Apartments could offer. Sometimes, we may think that there is no longer a need to settle as it is overlooked because of time constraints and money. But remember that this won't be a problem if one is only prepared and ready to make his dream for a better living a reality.

A Chance For Another New Beginning

And for the nth time, I have decided to start again. This year's a new year and so I believe here's another new beginning for me. To start all over again. To start out hopeful. To start with high and well spirit. To begin to dream. And to begin realizing the dream.

Paused for a while. Thinking where to begin. Then I just realized that every year seems to be the same thing. Recalling last year's failures. Wondering what had happened to myself that year. And thinking if I could finally work on with my life as a whole this time.

Once upon a time, when everything seemed to be beautiful and uncomplicated, and when life's just a happy-go-lucky one, I keep myself on dreaming. I would have meaningful conversation with my parents, a happy play with my siblings, and a quality time with my family. Those day's definitely a bliss and I can't help but miss those days. My mom would ask me how my day went as I arrive from school. Then she would eventually teach me lessons at night after we watch a nice show on television together with my dad, sister and two little brothers. But those days are no more.

But I bet it's not a crime to start over and dream and eventually hope for a better life this year. Working on with my life as a whole this time around is maybe difficult but I believe that starting the year well enough is to call significant progress in me. So let's just hope I won't be spoiling the opportunity this time around.

Eat All You... Can`t?

Just wanna share one of my most unforgettable experiences this year. Whatchutink mommy burns?
------

Almost two weeks ago, I and 10 of my officemates headed by Mommy Burns planned for a certain get-together weekend party for the purpose of strengthening our bond and sort of a team-building for us. Of course, the plan is set after our payday on the 20th of September - which just happen to be yesterday.

Originally, the plan was to eat dinner at a certain restaurant here in Cebu City which offers seafood meals for a cheaper price, then bar-hopping, videoke, and drink drink drink... but due to some important reasons and important appointments, we just then decided to do the first one which is to eat dinner together.

Everybody agreed to have dinner at TONG`S, a certain 'eat all you can' Filipino restaurant located at Cebu City [just near PASEO] because accordingly, they offer seafood meals plus the price is right. For only P170.00, you can already eat all you can eat... much cheaper than what I thought of. And the set time was 7:00 PM sharp!

I`ve always liked seafood meals since I`ve grown up in Zamboanga City where seafood is in abundance. And I never had bad things to say about any 'eat all you can' restaurants until recently during our get together dinner party. I can`t speak for my officemates who were in my group, but surely I`ll speak based on what I have experienced.

The idea of eating at a certain 'eat all you can' restaurant for me was very good. Of course it`s a fact that `twas not my first time eating in such kind of restaurant since there are plenty of those in Zamboanga City. But never did I realize that my thought about 'eat all you can' restaurant was perfectly wrong. Especially if you`ll be asked or worst, be forced to eat those foods you can`t already consume...
------

`twas 7:06 PM when I, Carol, and Mommy Burns arrived at TONG`s 'eat all you can' restaurant. We were surprised to see our other officemates to have been there on time plus the fact that almost everybody was there except for AJ who accordingly can`t really make it since she had a more important thing to do [more important than us, AJ?]. And I was even surprised when I`ve noticed that Bubbles was too quiet that night [not the usual Bubbles I`ve known for a year who`s talkative and noisy] only to realize the very fact that she`s already drunk. Haha, now that gave me the idea how to zipped her big mouth. Please remind me to bring tequila at work, later [LOL]...

Since we`re too starved already and since my stomach is so empty [again, lemme remind you that I only eat once a day - too desperate to lose weight], we then rushed through the buffet table and look for what`s in store for us. Hmmm, it wasn`t all seafood meals after all not like what Kouka and Dit had told me. Anyway, it`s good to know that there were three dishes I can eat: Baked 'talaba', a certain shrimp dish, and a certain chicken dish... Look so yummy, and I can`t think of anything else but to put it inside my mouth.

To cut the story short, we then ate and ate until we got our stomachs full. And when almost everybody was full, Sandra then decided to ask for the bill... only to be surprised with what the waiter replied. We were asked to finish everything that was on our plates especially the rice. God knows how full our stomachs were that time and to take another spoon of rice would surely make it burst. But accordingly, we have no option but to do it since it`s one of the restaurant policy. Oh *uck! Then they should have told us about their policy right from the very start so we wouldn`t end up that as if they`re forcing us to eat what we can`t already take... It seems like a punishment to me!

I know and it`s a very fact that it`s obviously our own fault. Why in the first place we`d put too much into our plate if we couldn`t even take it all? But fellows gimme a break! Customer satisfaction and customer`s good should always be your first priority. Why would you demand your customers to still eat those left food on their plates when it`s obvious that they stopped because they couldn`t take it anymore? Would you rather let your customers suffer, than to just let it pass and give them some knowledge about your restaurant policy? God knows `twas our first time to eat at your place or should I say, your restaurant... and we`re so offended. Honestly I am suppose to say that your restaurant was good since you offer good delicacies plus the fact that I considered all the dishes I`ve eaten in your place yummy, but because you`ve let me eat all I can`t already take then I decided not give you good reviews! Next time, please let us know your policy before letting us eat what we can`t already eat. Intiendes?

And hey! Lemme tell you this... I know and I am very much aware of the fact that there are many people around the world who are starving for food. And I am not wasting either. I`m even one of the many advocates for humanity who asks for people to stop wasting foods, and stop wasting all the resources we have.
------

Just a bite of INFO...

For those who may not know it, 'EAT ALL YOU CAN' restaurants are for people whose hunger was often bigger than their budget. The deal with restaurants who offer such dining is an unlimited amount of food usually arranged as a self-service buffet with a fixed price which is suppose to be lower than you can imagine.

This type of restaurant dining had mushroomed in different areas here in the Philippines, most particularly here in Cebu City for obvious reasons.

Just A Thought...

[ image is taken here. ]

♂ I always really feel like I`m missing a lot if I don`t watch the tube, browse the net or just do something else when I get home from work. Sometimes, or should I say most of the time [LOL], I would end up staying up late doing something that really makes no sense at all. And then when I wake up the next day, I just realize I`m about to be late at work... and I feel tired and totally not rejuvenated. Worst, it ends me up going to the office feeling sluggish, while everyone else seems so geared up for work.

So now I am thinking... Why not just let myself sleep early and get enough rest so I can face the day with energy and strength? Why not give myself more time and attention instead of just browsing the net and wasting time doing nonsense?

Hmmm... Lemme think about it okay? But for the meantime, lemme just see what I can see... lemme just think what I can think of... and lemme just do what I can do.

NO FEAR!

Now, let`s talk about fear... and those other things that links to it.

So what are fears? According to some definitions I`ve read, fears are
irrational beliefs about how an object, event, happening, or feeling will result in negative, disastrous, life threatening, disturbing, or unsettling consequences for you. They`re negative self-scripts you have either given yourself or that were given to you about how you will suffer dire consequences if you involve yourself in certain activities, behavior, or events. And they`re disabling beliefs you carry in yourself that prevent you from living a productive, healthy, and growth-enhancing life.

Let say for example, you want to try out something new... when it comes to trying out something new, there`s always a degree of fear involved. First is the fear to be criticized, second the fear of getting rejected, and lastly the fear to commit failure. But face it, no one is really exempted from failure, making mistakes or simply making a complete fool of yourself... not unless you don`t pla
n to do anything, of course.

I`ll quote a message from Terry Bragg, author of 31 Days to High Self-Esteem. According to him, "Most people do not achieve a fraction of what they are capable of achieving because they are afraid to try - because they are afraid they will fail."

Don`t be afraid! Overcome your fear and move forward. Bragg suggests some of the following steps:
  1. DO SOMETHING. Fear immobilizes you. Take heart, be brave and just do it. If it doesn`t turn out the way you expect it, do something else. Just do something!
  2. TRY, TRY, TRY. The only time you don`t fail, is the last time you try anything. Don`t give up. Someone once said, "You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this things that we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down." So, don`t stay down. Get up and just try another way to do it.
  3. DON`T TAKE IT PERSONALLY. Making a mistake doesn`t mean that you are a failure. Failure is not a personality characteristic.
  4. TAKE A DIFFERENT ROUTE. If what you`ve been doing isn`t working, try another approach. Bragg cites an old saying, "if you always do what you`ve always done, you`ll always get what you always got."
  5. GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK. A failed attempt at something can be a blow to anyone`s ego. At the very least, you`ll find out what doesn`t work.
  6. LEARN FROM IT. When something doesn`t work out the way you want it, ask yourself these questions: [1] What was the mistake? [2] Why did it happen? [3] How could it have been prevented? [4] How can I do better next time? Then do things differently, this time. We all make mistakes. Repeating them is another matter.

P.S. If you are seious and want to be more inspired about improving yourself & your self-esteem, and overcoming your very own fears, then I suggest that you read the book of Terry Bragg - 31 Days to High Self-Esteem. It`s simple and easy to understand, and objectives are clear and obtainable... surely a must-have!

Being a Call Center Agent

What are the odds that you have never heard of the call center industry? Pretty nil, right? Almost everyone now knows about call centers - but not everyone knows just how hard it is to be a call center agent (count me in! but that was when i am not yet one).

Being a call center agent is no walk in the park, I assure you. In my almost two years as a call center agent working in Cebu - Philippines, I have encountered people from all walks of life, foreign and native, of every stripe imaginable. And it has not been easy. Let me explain.

When I first applied at the call center recruitment center, I quickly found that it is actually a cattle call rather than a simple recruitment process. Applicants are a dime a dozen so it is pretty hard to stand out in that crowd.

You have to take a common IQ exam which weeds out the have-brains from the have-little-brains. Then there is the endless waiting period – waiting to know the results of your exam and waiting to be called for an interview. There is not even the levity of piped-in music from hidden speakers to alleviate the boredom. So you pass the time getting to know your fellow applicants.

Inside the call center, life is about dealing with pressure. You have to learn to deal with callers or prospects who will curse at you when you cannot address their concern. You have to meet your sales quota for the day or risk not getting paid or even being booted out of the company for good. And you have to learn to get along with your fellow agents.

Call center agents come in all shapes and sizes and every background imaginable. You have your fellow schoolmates and your former activists, your die-hard neighborhood "tambay" and people who will become your drinking buddies. You have some who will insist on speaking English even when they are not on call. Some do this because it enhances their English skills which are not so good, according to them. Others do it just to show off how American or British their accent has become. It is not easy getting along with call center agents simply because many lack sleep, are bored with their jobs, are frustrated with the customers and prospects, or want to kill their supervisor over the latest performance evaluation.

Like many call center agents, I never dreamed that I would become a call center agent. This is not what I am trained for, for how many years in college. I would much rather be doing something else, actually. But until something comes along that is just as lucrative (I mean, you cannot beat the pay, man!) then I guess I will be staying. It certainly beats being jobless. Which is the whole point of being a call center agent actually.

It`s Good to be the Real YOU.

INTEGRITY. HONESTY. Let`s talk about being truthful, telling like it is.

If you got this for into the year and realized that all of those resolutions you made have not been kept or maybe even started on, then perhaps it`s time to look into another direction. Realizing the importance of painting your own picture of the world is only half the battle. Painting a true picture of yourself is the most difficult.

Freedom of Expression is one of the few values we have, yet too few of us hold it dear. To express yourself is to make your own particular mark on the world: a mark like no other. And in the world where appearance is everything, to go against the flow - to push against the boundaries and create a look that is unique to you - is truly a brave and powerful thing. It`s not about a new face in town, but about who the real person is.

In my life, I always wanted to concentrate on a type of style that is so simple, so adaptable. That it would almost be called Basic. In my eyes and in my own opinion, that`s what BEAUTY and being TRUE is all about. I always wanted to show myself to everybody in a way that they would be able to remember me anywhere, anytime... for years to come.

The pictures I have created in myself may inspire you. Or they may not. You may like to focus on the spirit of what the images I portray represent. Or you may just focus on a single item. And at the end of the day, whatever you like and whatever you don`t like in me are the things that makes me the real ME. I can only show you what I really am. It may not be conventional, but atleast I`m striving to do my own thing and the things that I really want to do. So what about those of you trying hard copycats? Gotta be yourself guys. For once... even just for once, be true to yourself.
